This morning the Raleigh area enjoyed as tranquil a sunrise as one could imagine... see above (from the 15th at Lonnie Poole) 15 minutes after sunrise proper (better large on black), below during a mid-twilight (again, better LOB) and at sunrise proper in the bottom shot (still, better LOB). Sweet sunrise!

Sunrise 120316
Sunrise is always about the clouds, and the Raleigh area enjoyed some really nice ones this morning... seen above about 15 minutes after sunrise proper (and better large on black), and below in a panoramic view (definitely better LOB). Sweet sunrise!

Sunrise 120314
The Raleigh area enjoyed clear skies this morning but noticeably higher humidity... summer's just around the corner. Above is the view over the Lonnie Poole 15th's eastern water trap just after sunrise proper (better large on black), and the shot below caught two geese just as they touched down and a great blue heron looking on (definitely better LOB... if you want to see the birds). Sweet!

Sunrise 120312
Today's Raleigh area morning sky was characterized by bands of fast-moving low clouds... seen above during early twilight (better View On Black), below as the sun rose above one of those bands (LOB), and in a thru-the-trees post-rise view at the bottom (LOB). Different, interesting and sweet!

Sunrise 120311
Even a simple, cloud-free morning provides a very satisfying view when looking over a misty pond as the sun tops the treeline (better viewed View On Black). Sweet!

Sunrise 120308
The water traps at the Lonnie Poole 15th and some nice clouds come through again with a gorgeous view at sunrise proper (better large on black). Won't it be interesting to watch these views change as spring unfolds? Another sweet late winter sunrise!

Sunrise 120307
The few clouds and the aesthetic of the long water trap at the Lonnie Poole 16th created a very satisfying view at sunrise proper, above (and better large on black). The late twilight view, below (LOB), offered a slightly different look. The mid-twilight view back to the downtown area, at the bottom (2.5 miles E-NE), caught the low-lying fog (again, better LOB). Sweet sunrise!
