The dense clouds and rain continue in the Raleigh area, offering no chance for a sunrise shot. In lieu thereof, here's a stand-in picture from my archive, from three years ago today... rich golden tones on the pre-rise horizon and in the sparse dappled clouds (better viewed large on black). Sweet!

Sunrise 081108
Cloudy skies and light rain in the Raleigh area this morning, so here's a stand-in shot from my archive, from just over a year ago... a bona fide flamer on a morning with the near-perfect amount and placement of clouds (a must-see large on black). Below is the twilight view from this morning (also better LOB)... interesting clouds, and hopeful at times, but ultimately a no-show for the sun.

Sunrise 091109
Early twilight in the Raleigh area, above, was cloud-free and offered an especially intense red glow at the horizon (better large on black). By sunrise proper, below (and better LOB), a few clouds had drifted in from the south, the first we've seen at sunrise in a few days. Sweet!

Sunrise 091108
The high pressure persists, thus so do the cloud-free sunrises in the Raleigh area. Here, the sun sets again, briefly, after having risen (better large on black). Sweet!

Sunrise 091107
With a high pressure parked squarely on top of the Raleigh area, clear skies prevailed this morning, providing still another look at twilight's wonderful glow (better large on black)... and a perfect way to start celebrating Molly McGoodle's third B-day! Woo-hoo!!

Sunrise 091106
The Raleigh area enjoyed another cloudless fall sunrise event, seen here as the sun made its first appearance on the day (better large on black). Sweet on a Happy Friday!

Sunrise 091105
The Raleigh area saw some nice crepusculars in the mid twilight view (after most of the greens have departed and the reds are starting to impose themselves), above (and better large on black). Thirty minutes later, the zoomed post-rise view, below (and better LOB), was decidedly more urban. Great fun!
