It was a good half hour after "scheduled" sunrise before the sun finally topped the clouds and bathed the Raleigh area's first real snow of the season in its stellar light (better large on black). But who or what, I wondered, had left all those tracks... denying me the pristine winter vista I fully expected to find? A closer inspection left no doubt that the snow-covered Lonnie Poole Golf Course had been the scene of a raucous good time for a hoard of late night slope-sliders. Still, the morning provided a rare and very sweet post-rise view.
