Of course, I was hoping for a really spectacular display in the morning sky on this 2014 summer solstice, but persistent low clouds in the Raleigh pretty much took that off the table. What we got instead was a diffuse glimpse of the risen sun through a misty atmosphere before it disappeared for good behind the clouds (better large on black). Hmmm... seems as though spectacular comes in many forms. A very sweet sunrise on this first day of summer!
